Christ's Suffering
One of the many things unique to the Christian faith, that no other religion has, is the concept of a God that became a man and suffered along the side of mankind. What does this mean? It means we have a God who understands our sufferings, we have a God who understands our temptations, and we have a God who is willing to suffer along side us because he loves us. The year 2020 has been a crazy year thus far. People have been suffering economically, wrongfully harmed, and there is an atmosphere of uncertainty about the future. Some may even question if God understands what we are going through, but rest assured, our God understands completely. And not only that, but our God is sovereign, even in the midst of the chaos. What better time than now to trust in Him and rely not on our own understandings, but on God's.
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces He was despised, and we held Him in low esteem. 4 Surely He took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered Him punished by God, stricken by Him, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:3-5
